FOR THE JADED TRAVELER who has seen too many temples, had enough of shopping or isn't in the mood for Bangkok's night life, here is an alternative. Chatuchak Weekend Market is an absorbing place to spend part of a day, even if just to window shop. This is considered the largest market of it's kind in the world. The sprawling oceans of wares are divided into colour coded sections, by theme that is. With 10,000 stalls it covers an area of 1.13 Square kilometres (or 25 acres). Here you can find fresh produce, traditional medicines, household goods, furniture, antiques, old books and magazines, Thai crafts, Buddhist devotional objects, live animals, clothes, just to mention a few. Open only on Saturday and Sunday, some 200,000 to 300,000 visitors come here.
